Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, fresh from his failure to clinch seat at the Int’l Law Commission, arrives here in Palacio del Gobernador to file his substitution papers for senator.

Senatorial aspirant Roque had a reputation of being a highly-respected human rights lawyer, until he became spokesman of Duterte, whose bloody war on drugs was heavily scrutinized by rights groups.

In an ambush interview, Roque guarantees President Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte won’t run against each other in 2022. Roque says Duterte’s authorized rep to file his substitution papers later.

News update: Comelec officially closes its doors for substitution applicants. The poll body will only accommodate around 6 party-list groups which fell in line before the 5 pm deadline.

Comelec says there have been 19 withdrawal applications for national posts.

Comelec moves to declare nuisance 82 out of 97 presidential aspirants, 15 out of 29 vice presidential aspirants, and 108 out of 176 senatorial aspirants.

The list is not yet final. Official list of candidates will be out in December.
