As it happens I just wrote a comprehensive post on alexithymia! I was working on including treatments as well, but the article was becoming too long. So a post on alexithymia treatments (and a post on the alexithymic brain) is coming soon!

blocking, muting, and in general refusing to engage with people who do not have your best interests at heart is not cowardly. in a world where we're always connected and can't necessarily choose to walk away it's important to define digital boundaries.

The "doing" after the "planning" has been much harder, but over the years I've developed some things that help me personally work through that.

it's very useful for me that one of my favourite hyperfixation activities is... planning and scheduling (probably one of the reasons why I mask so well).

(I visited Singapore as a teen but I don't count that as experience planning-wise as all the itinerary was done for me, and I stayed with a host family who did all my translating and transport planning for me, too).

This is the first international trip I've ever planned and I've also had to fight my executive dysfunction daily for the last five weeks I've been planning this (I only learned the trip needed to happen very recently so the reduced planning time is another fun factor).

I won't be disclosing where and the exact dates online in advance for security reasons, but once it's all over I could post a write-up (and some anxiety-reducing tips for travel within that particular country).

I'm going to be doing some travel (with a 7 hour timezone difference) in the near future, I was thinking of keeping a log of my experiences/tips for travelling while ND... I don't know if there's anything people would want tips or warnings for, but if anything occurs to you lmk!

The funniest thing about the example is that it's not even an exaggeration. If you don't have a checklist system to go to when you feel off, I recommend making one. It can help speed up the figuring out what's wrong. For me, most of the time its that I forgot to eat.

ADHDers have difficulty figuring out how we feel. 'Wait, why do I feel weird? Am I hungry? Thirsty? Sad? Why would I be sad... Did something happen?' And thats if/ when we realize that were feeling off. Hard to do anything about it if we don't realize it in first place.

ADHD brains! Give me your stories. What works for you, what doesn’t work for you, what makes you feel sparkly, what makes you feel smothered?

ADHD culture is me frustrated for being tired when I drove 8 hours yesterday, put out several business fires, processed a high profile death, supported 4 friends, got up and scoured my kitchen. Yet here I am going “Honestly, it is 2pm on a Monday, why are you in bed?”

Hey this shit is Bad for Depression. The majority of my clients I see who are depressed very much recognize the people who love them, the things they have, etc, and think that, on top of being depressed, they are ungrateful/self-absorbed for not being Appropriately Grateful
