A reminder that we also don't really know where all the signaling peptides come from or where they go, among other things if you want to know why we don't understand the worm yet, it's good to remember that we only kind of "know" the "connectome"

A minor pedantic quibble. The dauers they looked at didn't just experience starvation but also were exposed to high pheromone and high temperature. There's some indication that dauers obtained by different protocols are different. But no quibble with the 'whoa' statement!!
-
ah I didn't know that high pheromone levels induced different dauers? that's cool, is there a good ref for that or is it working-knowledge type stuff?
-
Dauers by diff methods have diff behaviors (us). Hid dauers have diff genetics than pherom dauers
@michaelailion. Most interestingly, post-dauers from dauers induced by different means have totally diff gene expression and brood sizes@sarah_hall02 (PMID: 29447162). Cool, huh. -
that's super cool, looking forward to reading more about this...!
