My lab @ UW is looking for postdocs to develop next-gen therapeutic neural interfaces! We 'engineer learning' to improve interfaces, and use these interfaces to study learning in neural circuits. See details below. Get in touch if interested. RT please and thank you.

Excited to announce our bioRxiv paper describing OpenMonkeyStudio. This is a BIG three-lab project that took a LOT OF people working very hard a lot of time.

  5. I just google image searched 'model fitting' and took me a minute to realize why I mostly got pictures of fashion models being measured for clothes. Oh right. I guess that would be the more popular use of the term.😂🤓

  6. Similar to my own experience, seems like a lot of folks learn coding by doing, and less in class settings. Wonder what CS departments think of formal programming classes ranking last...

  7. Teaching a programming-reliant class has me reflecting on how best to teach coding and when people learn coding skills. If you code a lot now, when did you learn the bulk of your skills?

  8. I know so many people that trained in physics/math and then moved into biology because it was so fascinating & complex. Myself included. Bonus that it got me a bit further from folks most prone to pointlessly debating the superiority of scientific disciplines.

  11. I study the brain, and I use amyo for almost every handle when I can because almost no one spells my last name correctly. For the record, there are 2 R's in my last name. Your brain ignores the one you're not expecting 😂

Dear collaborators, If we write a paper together and I am first or last author, that paper will be under-cited. Just thought to give you fair warning.

It’s the season for grad school interviews. I’ve been doing these a couple years now (for a few different programs), and in the interest of dismantling the hidden curriculum, here’s how I’d interview you and what I’d look for: 1/
