I continue to not understand what you're supporting here, is this a copy paste? But the issue under contention is demonstrated in the quote you pulled: "We must act with urgency to ensure that detention is used only when the risk of great bodily harm to another person..." /1

"...outweighs the community public health consequences. " This is exactly what's happening, and its not primarily because of Covid. Its because of an intention to radically re-design his job description, encapsulated here - /2pic.twitter.com/ij9EV9cbZl

So, what I would love to see, from you and also
@larabazelon, is less character assassinations of DAs who are speaking out, and more of a defense of the principles behind statements like these. It seems to me and many others, that simply *not doing your job* is not sufficient /32 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

Discretion is central to the DA's role, he is elected to decide what punishments are best for society. In this land of mass incarceration where the average american commits three felonies a day and the epicenter of the pandemic is behind bars is essential.https://mobile.twitter.com/davidminpdx/status/1262788183877488640 …

OK. I appreciate you articulating what you see as the issue and the resolution, in your own words. At least I can understand better.

I am thankful that
@chesaboudin heeded the guidance of our@SF_DPH (specifically Dr Pratt who specified how many prisoners to hold at maximum) but also our@HouseJudiciary including members@RepKarenBass ,@RepJerryNadler to reduce incarceration.https://judiciary.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2893 …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@virtualvirtues , I am most frustrated by chesa's adversaries deliberately conflating short term crisis decisions made by medical personnel, with long term ideologically driven ones. Its both that, shoplifters should see detention, and that in a pandemic detaining them is unjust.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I think its very hard to confuse concerns about Covid with a radical plan to not prosecute criminals, mainly because the statements, actions, and declared mission statement from Chesa. So, 'deliberately conflating'? Strong disagree. There are dishonest actors on both sides /1

But in regards to acting on Covid...what is the excuse now? We have a widely available vaccine, anybody who wants it can get it...for free. Covid is not going away. When does a reaction to short term crises start to look like a long term ideologically driven one for you?

And at what point does a case and detail like this concern you? What is too far? What metrics are you looking for to support him more? What would make you support him less? What is the response to something like this? fhttps://twitter.com/DionLimTV/status/1453481891944755204?s=20 …

Of course violence in our city is concerning, which is why its so important to find effective solutions. The status quo isn't effective, #MassIncarceration is neither safe nor effective, its past time to try something proven to be.

In what universe is anything he's done 'something proven to be' [effective]? Case after case, we are seeing people who have been arrested 2,5,10 times in a single year....life is so much more complicated than responding that 'the status quo isn't effective'. What specific part?
