Here is a great article about how drug use really is and is not in Amsterdam. This aligns with my own limited experience.https://www.amsterdamredlightdistricttour.com/news/10-tips-for-using-drugs-in-amsterdam/ …

This really doesn't make it sound like SF. Where are the fentanyl dealers, open use and street deaths?

Fentanyl dealers are a predictable result of prohibition of safer less potent substances. It's prohibition not the drugs themselves that are dangerous, countries with less draconian enforcement have less, addiction, overdoses, lawlessness and violence in their communities.

So then why so many fentanyl deaths if it's the enforcement that's dangerous? There's no enforcement in SF

We have so many deaths in SF because of our enforcement, in the netherlands or portugal where there is no enforcement, people substitute less dangerous drugs, and fentanyl is much less common.https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1279449608033316865?lang=en …

Chesa Boudin 博徹思Verified account @chesaboudinReplying to @chezpim @MattHaneySFFact: approximately 20% of my general felony team's caseload are drug sales. We do prosecute these cases, everyday, for better or worse. As we've learned from the war on drugs after all these decades of failure: this is not a problem we can police or prosecute our way out of.2 replies 1 retweet 2 likes -

As our psycologists explain, our systems of prohibition are causing these deaths and open air markets, without prohibition the situation is much safer, and deaths are rare.

How would you quantify that? Arrests? Convictions? Pounds of drugs seized? The US “wins” in all categories.

Yes all those. I don't know who wins but it's not SFpic.twitter.com/E1wim0uFZl

This is the counterproductive enforcement you claim does not exist.
#EndTheDrugWar because it obviously and reliably exacerbates, availability, addiction, lawlessness, and overdoses. It also drives the usage of more dangerous potent substances.https://twitter.com/SFPDTenderloin/status/1421151342047813632 …
