I believe that people who commit crimes must be held to answer. But in ways that reduce rather than create future crime. Not on fear and vindictiveness, but justice, equal enforcement of the law, and data-driven policies aimed at promoting public safety.https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2021/09/chesa-boudin-san-francisco-crime/620063/ …

The war on drugs has been a failure, no one can dispute that but taking the complete opposite approach shouldn’t be the way.

I think that it can be, our government has a difficult time stopping doing the wrong thing, I hope we can agree to
#DefundThePolice around specific non-violent issues and create programs like@mentalhealthsf and in Cahoots that better address them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3Z6uEfpTog …1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
Replying to @netfire4 @masterlongevity and
My initial thought without any research would be to legalize most drugs but have unauthorized sellers face jail sentences and when inevitably, users break other laws mandatory jail/rehab Of course I see probs with this and I haven’t thought it through

“Decriminalizing drugs is even more urgent now than in 1972, but we must recognize that the harm done in the interim cannot be wiped out... Postponing decriminalization will only make matters worse, and make the problem appear even more intractable.” --Milton Friedman, 1989
