Talk to ER doctors: “.. the majority of people who land in the ER have ingested it unintentionally, either using a drug that they didn't realize was laced with fentanyl, or that they thought was something else entirely but was actually fentanyl.”https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/fentanyl-San-Francisco-overdose-drug-epidemic-16237333.php …

I have personal anecdotes and can site numerous professional scientific works, showing to how great of an extent prohibition, the impurity and the varied potency it has created contributes to overdoses. Fentanyl adulteration of street drugs is common. https://www.dea.gov/sites/default/files/2018-07/BUL-039-18.pdf …

Prohibition kills. Enforcement does not work. Follow the evidence and you find this out. It changed my mind.

I agree that selling adulterated drugs to people is a crime, maybe even homicide. Get Tough on Crime doesn't work though. We need a solution that actually works.

“Doesn’t work” is not the same as “doesn’t have an impact”. Arresting drug dealers would have an impact. It wouldn’t eliminate the problem, but maybe it would save a few lives. Is that worth it?

Our system of prohibition where marijuana is more stringently scheduled and frequently criminalized does absolutely effect the usage of illicit fentanyl. Hardly yesterdays problem our systems of prohibition are driving this epidemic of overdoses today,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_law_of_prohibition#:~:text=The%20iron%20law%20of%20prohibition,%2C%20the%20harder%20the%20drugs.%22 …
