Yes, racism from more than one and a half century ago totally justifies why we don't jail drug dealers, shrug at 700 OD dead last year and let repeat violent offenders of the hook who then go on to murder innocents.

You might wish that our modern system of
#MassIncarceration wasn't obviously racist, but it is, where our population if 5% black and its prisons contain 50%+ black people, in a pandemic imprisoning them for minor offences is racist, & in pandemic genocide.https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1172034132437655553 …Paul added,
1:39Chesa Boudin 博徹思Verified account @chesaboudinSome don't care about ending mass incarceration. Others think we've done enough. I'll break down why the're wrong: Less than 5% of SF is black but approx. 50% of the jail is black; SF's incarceration rate for African Americans is way higher than any other major American city. pic.twitter.com/Rgh2e9aCpgShow this thread2 replies 1 retweet 3 likes -

All prisons contain 50% black because they commit all the crimes and it's not our fault that the jails shake out that way. Forget about drugs and just look at violent crimes and you'll see the truth but you'll ignore it because you have the liberal veil over your eyes.

See the people, please. In SF, 75% of crime is by addicts or mentally ill. Poverty, exploitation, no medical or social care affect non-affluent communities most. We need to stop writing people off as footnotes. There is a story behind each prisoner. We need to see all the people.

First of all, we need to protect their potential victims. Then, we can deal with the criminals. Public safety is the foundation of civilization. W/out it, no society. Of course,
@chesaboudin loves criminals more than their victims. That is why we will throw him out of office.3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

Despite alarmist lies spread on Twitter, elected DA Boudin continues to work for ALL victims, plus getting police to stop harming non-white citizens -also a public safety issue. Reform DAs do more than their hard-on-crime counterparts, not less. Reform=safety.

Its actually the opposite, there is no scientific basis for suggesting that what you want will make us any safer, and lots of evidence that it will make our society less safe. The facts, actually invalidate your argument but you knew that.

Alec KarakatsanisVerified account @equalityAlecReplying to @equalityAlec @SusanDReynolds and 6 othersThere is a virtual scientific consensus that increasing incarceration has nothing to do with safety. When you make comments like this, you only get more resources for cops, and more violence in poor communities and communities of color. I hope you'll learn more.1 reply 1 retweet 3 likes -

Cities that reduced arrests for low level offenses reduced police shootings - and did not see crime increase relative to other cities. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/police-arresting-fewer-people-for-minor-offenses-can-help-reduce-police-shootings/ …1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes

Or this piece of sociology, unlike the data and evidence free advocacy for tough on crime policies, the evidence and scientific research backing reform is prevalent and forthcoming.
