Karsten, I'd encourage you to do better than "pre/post-Chesa". As others have said, you're taking data from before Chesa was in office. Furthermore, blithely grabbing 2 numbers doesn't factor in COVID-19, lack of federal aid like other countries had, shuttered courthouses, etc.

Arguing crime numbers on Twitter is a battle I haven't time for, but I'll leave you with this. If you want to talk real FBI data, then I will stick with the conclusion the SF Chronicle has drawn numerous times. There isn't a crime rate, and crime isn't up.https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/editorials/article/Editorial-No-the-Bay-Area-is-not-in-the-midst-16321086.php …

Dupree makes good sense. That’s the bottom line here. Opine and run comment is snarky, a good time to leave the conversation.

He does? How so? Everybody knows the Chronicle is woke. Why would anyone take anything coming out of the Chronicle take at face value?

The FBI must be in on it too because they report generally declining violent crime.pic.twitter.com/gmVrajbesQ

SF Chronicle is pulling FBI data that shows overall+violent crime is down. Accusing a publication of being "woke" because they don't support your argument shows inability to engage in good faith conversation. We're done here -thread muted- y'all take care.https://www.sfchronicle.com/local/article/San-Francisco-s-crime-rates-shifted-16071268.php …

The Chronicle just parrots what Boudin is saying. Boudin is *technically* correct overall crime is down. But when you drill down you see that all crimes that need people to be outside is down (which they weren't because of Covid) - while everything else is up: homicides etc.

The releases were because of covid. Otherwise they would not have been so broad or rapid. What do you think of the epidemiological disaster that failing to do these releases has been in other municipalities? Are those DA's responsible for those deaths?https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/justice-driven-data/an-epidemic-inside-a-pandemic/ …
