It isn't coherent to say you support decarceration while insisting on even more than our record mass incarceration, or saying you support criminal justice reform while supporting cash bail. Just say you want to lock up all the poor people you see, and own it.

Because we have 5% of the worlds population and 25% of her prisoners. Sf for instance as one piece of layered incarceration(also state and federal) locally imprisons more people per capita than any other first world country does in it's whole incarceration system.pic.twitter.com/tdaPi7B4bp

We as a country incarcerate the greatest number of people and percentage of our population in the history of man, higher than either the soviet gulags at peak or the Nazis ever did.pic.twitter.com/r4E4otOhYd

We spend more on our
#PoliceState than anyone but china and we do on our military. No other country spends this level of money violently abusing it's constituency.pic.twitter.com/I86dtMoWjyThis media may contain sensitive material. Learn more

As
@chesaboudin discusses here, it's untrue to characterize SF as having solved#MassIncarceration, while imprisoning the greatest portion of black people per Capita in our country.https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1172034132437655553?s=19 …Paul added,
1:39Chesa Boudin 博徹思Verified account @chesaboudinSome don't care about ending mass incarceration. Others think we've done enough. I'll break down why the're wrong: Less than 5% of SF is black but approx. 50% of the jail is black; SF's incarceration rate for African Americans is way higher than any other major American city. pic.twitter.com/Rgh2e9aCpgShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

It isn't coherent to normalize based on gdp when we have such wealth, yes we have money it's still brutal cruel and excessive to spend it being violent to our citizenry. No one spends such an excessive quantity of money on incarceration and a police state like we do.

We imprison a order of magnitude more people than our first world peers, and no it isn't approaching the world wide average, hence the 5% of world pop and 25% of prisoners, as a wealthy first world country, this number should be an order of magnitude lower.
