And can we stop talking about breaking in homes and cars as “property crimes”? It doesn’t get more personal that a criminal breaking into your HOME! This is a personal crime with victims who are devastated. Stop equating break ins to only affecting property (like graffiti).

The standard Chesa is using isn't personal vs property crime, it's violence. "We must act with urgency to ensure that detention is used only when the risk of great bodily harm to another person outweighs the community public health consequences. The people willing to break into homes and cars are the same people that will gladly harm you physically. There needs no distinction. Lock them up.

Where the priority of incarceration is might be debatable, however the release program must be and is slated for another 235 released, it's not more incarceration it's a question of who is it safest for us to let out next?pic.twitter.com/Xk4lwCG4HV

If we can’t use prison, What’s the punishment / reform process for non-violent criminals that you propose? Surely we must hold people accountable for breaking the law or we become a banana society.

In my opinion law is not coherent, criminalizes everyone and we should absolutely not listen to it enforce any bit of it, doing so is in my view cruel and unjust.
