This is a terrible tragedy and awful end to a brutal year. It is a system failure that resulted in irreversible harm to two families. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. We will hold the man who did this accountable. We will support the families of the victims

I supported, canvassed for, and voted for you. I want criminal justice reform as much as the next person. But right now all I see from you are celebrations of prosecuting cops and excuses. At best you are losing the messaging battle 1/

At worst you are making people feel less safe, making this city more divided, and for all I know actually making the city less safe. Help me l, as a supporter of these policies, understand what is actually being done to improve life in this city for everyone. 2/x

Hi @Foxandthecloud , As a longtime supporter, volunteer and also canvasser for @chesaboudin I hoped I might point you to guidance that the @SFDAOffice put out to explain rapid decarceration under medical guidance?https://twitter.com/SFDAOffice/status/1333825561144147970?s=20 …

      Paul added,

      SF DISTRICT ATTORNEY @SFDAOffice
Check out this new report from @SFDAOffice on our use of data to drive decision making around rapid decarceration. With COVID cases spiking, this is a critical resource to help other jurisdictions save lives inside jails and in the broader community. https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/justice-driven-data/an-epidemic-inside-a-pandemic/ … pic.twitter.com/v7yed0fn07

@Foxandthecloud , @chesaboudin was instructed by our @SF_DPH that it was safe to incarcerate no more than 800 people, because of existential epidemiological threats. Attached is a graph of prison population against this public health guidance.pic.twitter.com/EM1ftOCdBK

I don’t think that people really care if inmates get sick. Do they? Had @tmcalister75 died of covid, two people would be alive now, and several people would still have their possessions. With this rate, for every covid release, two people will die. That makes no sense.

It's not about the health of the people inside, it's about what the epidemiologists say the health effects to the public are by holding this many people in mass.

All the business installed acrylic panels, did anyone do some study as to how prisons could be refitted? I feel like there’s a lot of ground to explore between how it was and just closing down prisons and releasing all the criminals. Eg. Why no more - less dense prisons?
