And this thread exists because innocent people died because of the releases So unless you are willing to say "I accept innocent people being hurt by criminals being released" then you're not being honest about your position

I understand there is risk in releasing prisoners and still think we hold too many people historic both in number and percentage. There might be a few deaths, but imprisoning people in this mass isn't safe.pic.twitter.com/1wmlW0JSxj

Again this is not about sending people to prison who should not have been sent to prison.... this is about releasing people we know pose a legitimate threat to Society for their safety. And it's easy to say I understand there's risk when it's not your family who's being killed

Our national media emphasized that more than 39% of our prisoners shouldn't be incarcerated.https://www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/4596081/incarceration-report/%3famp=true …

You seem to be so obsessed with getting people out of prison you're not bothering to ask the question of should certain people actually be in prison...... and how many innocent people are you willing to sacrifice to accomplish your goal

I am obsessed with ending mass incarceration and I am disgusted by anyone being there for any reasons short of violence. I think our overcrowded mass incarceration system is racist and fundamentally unjust.

So we should knowingly release violent people back into society because we don't want them to get sick... that is the position you were taking

Nope, try again. We should knowingly release even some of the violent because the risks posed by incarcerating them in overcrowded mass is greater to society.

I disagree with that and I will point to the two dead people we're talking about as reason why releasing knowingly violent people into society is a bad idea.

Well our epidemiologists think mass incarceration poses a even greater risk to society, and so have directed @chesaboudin to release another 235/835 or 27%. To hold no more than 600!
