My argument is not that prison is the best solution nor an effective one. I'm arguing it's better than our 2020 COVID-safe approach: "we will yell about masks and impose quarantines but will ignore everything else, including vehicle theft, car break-ins and stayaway orders"
You obviously do not think that the guidance of our medical professionals is important, and are more focused on usage of this uniquely american mass incarceration system. I am uncertain if you understand the medical crisis your behavior is precipitating?

The guidance of medical professionals is important - hence my support reducing our jail population by as much as possible as long as we can say confidently that the parollees won't continue to harm the community. Hopefully we can reach the recommended "600" number.

The problem I see is that given our over criminalized society it is implausible for anyone to be in compliance with the law, stopping short of theft is a normally a obvious requirement, but now incarceration is a death sentence for some random person statistically.

What I refuse to do is blindly support releasing prisoners to wreak havoc on an already reeling community with blatant and unapologetic crime. It's clear we will not agree on this - so I recommend we agree to disagree. I support my good-hearted and well-intentioned neighbors.
