Here's the problem - outside of prison time, the consequences aren't deterring crime. We can't accept the constant public looting of pharmacies or car burglaries as normal - there has to be a deterrence. Right now there clearly isn't, and it's unfair to those who are burglurized.
I advocate we follow the guidance of our health professionals in our @SF_DPH and immediately release another 235/835 of our cities mass incarcerated population or face further existential risk from congregate living circumstances.

I remain hesitant although open to this idea if those selected for release are not (1) violent or (2) repeat offenders who have demonstrated they need to be removed from the community.
