Firstly @VG82430165 , thank you for acknowledging that I care and have a heart for this issue. I think we have the same desired ends, a reduction or elimination of substance use disorders in our society. It's the means we differ on, and I am thankful for your interest.

Unlike most Americans I reject commonly used addictive drugs, I don't drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, or drink any alcohol. I was prescribed ritalin when I was young and hated it so much it influences my lifelong advocacy.

I have a fair bit of experience with marijuana, and it helps me be calm and relaxed when interacting with people. I as a young atheist found my experience with psychedelic drugs to be religious, placing me in touch with humanity and the world around me in my view.

As I have commented to @MyTwolffamily I have never recreationally used methamphetamine, and opiate, or cocaine. But for the first two have been given them in medical circumstances.
