There are a number of academics that have made their career discussing the impact of overcriminalization on our society, here is one excellent thought piece.https://ips-dc.org/three-felonies-day/ …

I see, didn’t realize there is a book called “Three Felonies A Day” about Fed policy. I will download it, thanks for the info. The Fed has been picking the pockets of our elderly and savers for quite awhile now with these low interest rates, imagine that would be an example?

More like, throwing out mislabeled or junk mail rather than returning it to the post office is a felony, as are a plethora of other absolutely stupid things. Law is too overgrown to be understood or complied with by anything.

Okay let's stay on topic, @VG82430165 . Prohibition not the drugs themselves are dangerous, there have been no deaths in safe injection sites worldwide, fentanyl is the most commonly used surgical anesthetic, recognized relatively non toxic and used safely in our hospitals daily.

I propose we permit heroine dens, and make the purveyors responsible for the immediate and long term medical consequences, the dens should be responsible to neighborhood feedback, should require medical supervision on staff, and should be heavily taxed to support rehab.

How might this be different than the proposed Safe Injection Sites?

The taxpayer would not be responsible for it, and instead it would be a source of tax revenue. The facility, and medical care would be maintained with the proceeds of the sales rather than from tax revenue, and the drug dealer would be criminally responsible for a dead patron.

Today this model is used heavily including in sf, however we make it unavailable unless major surgery is being undergone. We should increase accessibility and allow our pain treatment professionals to do their work.
