All week SFPD Officers used a strategy to deny drug dealers access to some of their most profitable turf using a strong uniformed presence and command van. They backed that up w/undercover Narcotics officers making multiple arrests. 8 more booked today.https://hoodline.com/2020/10/sfpd-deploys-mobile-unit-to-disrupt-drug-dealing-in-the-tenderloin#.X3-qcGNbh1E.twitter …

A much more effective strategy than enablement of addiction.

@abales with respect, Prohibition incentives lawlessness, drug usage, and violent crime! "I now explain why using force against people who wish to use intoxicants inevitably harms them, harms the general public, and harms the legal system. Both my grandpa & great grandpa served time for bootlegging during prohibition. I’ve served people destroyed by addictions my entire life. I prefer my approach. We’ve gone far too far with harm reduction & enablement. While I am alive I will do all I can to promote recovery. Done

So hypothetically, if I could explain how prohibition and the war on drugs generally, promote drug usage, exacerbate addiction, inhibit outreach for recovery, and do counter intuitively increase availability and usage of drugs? We incarcerate the most in the history of humanity.pic.twitter.com/ehZ9P6wFkg

I love with the consequences of harm reduction and enablement every day. I see addictions lead the cause of death of nearly 4 people per day in Los Angeles. Please don’t share your theories with me. I have loved ones who’ve lost their lives to addiction. Recovery is our only hope

I agree with the wisdom of @chesaboudin , despite 50 years, and because of trillions of dollars in effort there are more drugs on our streets and the money from them is used to fund lawlessness.
Prohibition promotes usage. addiction, and crime!https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1279449608033316865 …
