Many in SF want our homeless to be in treatment (e.g., rehab, psychiatric institutions). According to this source, it costs ~$300k/person/year. (prob more b/c CA) https://ps.psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/appi.ps.201100402 … We have ~8k homeless --> $3.2 B/year. Our city budget is $12B. We need help.

Why do we have to prioritize the homeless at $300k/year? Couldn’t we use this money to: Black youth programs, blue collar housing, teacher pay raises, etc. why do we keep putting drug addicted mentally ill criminals on a golden pedestal #1? Is feeling virtuous that important?

Replying to @netfire4 @JohnSungKim and
Your approach has been tried and has failed spectacularly. Proof is the shit show on the streets. It is time for strict and mandatory rehab and mental health care. And SF should be footing the bill and only be responsible for SF’s population based per capita homeless number.

Actually as our @SFDAOffice , and @chesaboudin is proud to emphasize in his @ChasingPodcast its our historic mass incarceration system that is without justification, and has been proven absolutely ineffective.
