Last night on his “town hall” @chesaboudin said that we couldn’t get drug dealers off our streets because we first had to ensure the safety of their families in Honduras. This is madness. Our city is overrun with dealers.

Actually chesa said jail is a ineffective disincentive to someone facing the murder of themselves and their families.

More that jail isn't really a effective disincentive when choosing not to deal has so much more significant consequences. Jail isn't a harsh sentence, and doesn't disincentivize anything compared with threats of families death in their home country.

I don’t necessarily think we only need to think about this as “disincentive”. Of course would be great to be able to do that. But in the absence, I think it’s fair to ask to get them off our streets. And jail accomplishes that.

I thing it's obvious after 60 years of mass incarceration in an attempt to win the drug war, That incarceration has little to no effect on usage or availability.
We cannot arrest or shoot or mass incarcerate our way out of this @fentanyl_crisis .
