Last night on his “town hall” @chesaboudin said that we couldn’t get drug dealers off our streets because we first had to ensure the safety of their families in Honduras. This is madness. Our city is overrun with dealers.

Actually chesa said jail is a ineffective disincentive to someone facing the murder of themselves and their families.

Since when has being a Honduran citizen or national an automatic death sentence?

Chesa's said as many as 50% of dealers are trafficked to the US. He worked with a drug dealer who was a witness in a federal drug case - the dealer's dad got killed. Dealers don't fear jail because their families are under threat. Not sure what would happen if they got deported.

Which doesn’t mean the rampant dealing and overdose death per day is acceptable as the status quo either.

The status quo of overdoses and rampant incentivized lawlessness, is destructive to society and should not persist. Prohibition is dangerous!

There's absolutely no evidence that legalizing heroin would fix lawlessness or overdoses.
