Last night on his “town hall” @chesaboudin said that we couldn’t get drug dealers off our streets because we first had to ensure the safety of their families in Honduras. This is madness. Our city is overrun with dealers.

Replying to @BethOdo_SF @chesaboudin
Actually chesa said jail is a ineffective disincentive to someone facing the murder of themselves and their families.

Correct - that's what the logic implies

Knowing something is bad, and effectively addressing it are different. Chesa while knowing drug dealers are a problem also knows jail not to be a efficable solution.

Agree with your first premise However, he still implies that we cannot do anything about our local problem without first addressing a problem in another country Doesn't pencil

Not that we cannot have an effect, just that jail does not have the effect we are looking for. insanity is doing the same thing we have been doing and expecting a different result. We have had a brutal and ruthless drug war since nixon wanted to make it illegal to be anti war.pic.twitter.com/UjFhWI0VON

He said hes continuing to prosecute these, but it was a ineffective disincentive and that the drug war had failed. The families in hondores, mean that the threat of jail isn't a significant one. There are too many people in hondores for SF to pay to jail them all ergo useless.
