Right now it feels like SF's strategy is all carrot, no stick. So much free stuff. Virtually zero consequences for damaging public or private property. I am concerned this will draw addicts from all across CA to SF. (9/x)https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/philmatier/article/SF-a-magnet-for-homeless-seeking-free-hotel-room-15241814.php …

We need a state-wide solution (cc
@GavinNewsom) It is unfair & unwise to spend such a high % of SF taxes towards enabling drug use of newcomers. 55% of our homeless are from SF - I believe we should prioritize their care & needs first. (10/x)https://bit.ly/3dAv4QP1 reply 3 retweets 28 likesShow this thread -
"From SF" referring to 10+ years in the city. That seems like a reasonable amount of time to count as being a "resident". It seems like the current approach is to keep people alive & protected from jail. That makes sense, but it means we aren't really helping many. (11/x)

We should prioritize health care and rehabilitation for SF residents. Instead, it seems like SF is becoming a magnet for severe addicts from all around the US. These are difficult & complex issues. I hope our gov is considering tradeoffs. We cannot serve everybody. (fin)

Not very complicated at all. Stop open drug dealing, make services contingent on proof of residency for at least a year and make service mandatory. Do all these things with fidelity and they will stop coming. Right now the politician are paralyzed. Won’t do anything

What’s happening now is they are arresting these drug dealers 6-7 times a year. This has nothing to do with the sanctuary city ordinance. Sanctuary should be for hard working immigrants that want to live a better live not drug dealers who get arrested for felony drug dealing X 10
