Eber Almendares, 23, is on felony probation since 4/1 for dealing drugs on the 600 block of Eddy. We booked him again 4/7 for dealing at 7th/Mission and again yesterday at GG/Hyde for dealing heroin and violating the courts orders to stay away. $1,185 seized. @chesaboudin How is it serving the public to release these criminals time and time again? You are putting the community and the police in danger. @MattHaneySF you support policies and leaders that allow men like this to terrorize your constituents. Why?

for all intents and purposes drugs are decriminalized in SF. by the way "decriminalization" does not mean no consequences, or tolerance of addiction and all that comes with it from a quality of life perspective.

Drugs are absolutely not decriminalized here. The supply is still irregular, violent, and fund criminal behavior. Decriminalization would mean an end to violence.

      Replying to @netfire4 @SFPDTenderloin and

decriminalized is not legalization. The trade of drugs would still be "illegal" as it should be. There are zero consequences for people involved in the drug trade so far as our city's CJ system is concerned. We have de-facto decrim as it stands. The result Violence and Death.

I just want to point out how this conversation started, you asked why chesa was doing what he was, and I offered as a supporter to articulate it. I think neither of us has any expectation of me convincing you, just merely explaining why he might do so.

I asked how releasing drug dealers time and time again only to have them go back to drug dealing. is serving the community. I know what he is doing... he is doing nothing.

You asked not what he was doing but why, I think I have articulated that by having the drugs sold legally, you would no longer be placinng money in the hands of the lawless? But The justifications are varied. I am obviously neither chesa nor matt.https://twitter.com/RussTkr/status/1265770051342233600 …

I questioned the utility of what he was doing. Letting dealers walk time after time after time after time. My post was very clear. I know why he is doing it. He thinks locking up drug dealers is more harmful than allowing them the kill people with their product. Which is bonkers
