I would tend to agree, but this is certainly not the case in SF. I don’t use national talking points manipulatively to affect change in this city. Mass crime and quality of life denigration is what SF is experiencing, NOT “mass incarceration “ falsehood. That’s fraud.https://twitter.com/netfire4/status/1264676665730322433 …

Firstly,
@richieSF2016 Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. “Decriminalizing drugs is even more urgent now than in 1972, ... Postponing decriminalization will only make matters worse, and make the problem appear even more intractable.” --Milton Friedman, 1989, in an open letter to Bill Bennett https://www.econ.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/yablon_daniel.pdf …

I’m not sure incarceration is a solution either, but Normal for SF is drugs and mental illness at our playgrounds. SF isn’t proposing credible alternatives that don’t clearly end with a continued increase of crime, drug use and the homelessness and mental disorders that follow.

First of all I am not SF, but anyone who cares can see that this is a public health not public safety problem. We need doctors, nurses, and mental health care not incarceration or more overseas war. Money for jobs and education not for war and incarceration.

Sure. I’d vote for education, (required!) rehab. However, that’s not the SF leadership with have.

I think they like everyone else is looking for a feasible solution, If we stuck the dealers behaving especially poorly in prison I think that's appropriate, but still. @chesaboudin is prosecuting drug crime.https://twitter.com/chesaboudin/status/1263641860024623110 …
