People who have no choice but to live in low income housing, raise their children in the TL are vulnerable. Seniors are vulnerable. Criminals had choices not to commit a crime that resulted in jail. Simple dont commit a crime and you'll avoid jail.

In our police state, the average American commits three felonies a day, and every one of us illegal.https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052748704471504574438900830760842 …

What a horrible article that really has nothing to do with incarceration. Many in jail had several chances prior to finally being sent to jail. They were fully aware that the act they were committing was illegal and had committed prior.

Our media is in agreement with our philosophers, mass incarceration is a moral failing and a existential threat. Most of our prisoners shouldn't be incarcerated.https://www.google.com/amp/s/time.com/4596081/incarceration-report/%3famp=true …

Many who are jailed for drug charges have accepted plea bargains. In order to have their more serious violent charges dropped and avoid court, they accept lesser drug charges. So a person who's in jail for drug charges on paper, might have done more serious undisclosed crimes.

All of these things sound like crimes that should see attention from our Criminal Justice system.
@chesaboudin means they will get more attention, not less.
