We cannot empty the jails every time someone gets the sniffles. If you don’t want to be in jail, stop committing crimes. There, that was easy.

At least 75% of people incarcerated in SF jail are awaiting a trial. They haven't been convicted of anything. Many of them didn't commit any crime and get released after a few years of waiting. Hope it never happens to you.

You are painting a picture of mostly innocent people walking down the street and getting picked up by cops and put in jail for years. Police arrested people on probable cause so the incarcerated people are the ones that put themselves in that situation.

I'm Glad I am conveying my opinions on our mass incarceration system effectively. I do not think most of the people in there deserve to be there, especially during a pandemic.

You did convey it effectively, but your opinion seems to be that all crime that is non-violence has zero consequences. Do drugs...no problem. Just lay on the street in front of a business. Steal less than $950...no problem...the rich business owner can afford that. I disagree.

You're only half right there. I do think that public safety is the wrong tool to attempt to address the public health crisis that is addiction on our streets. I do think that the drug war is misguided and makes things worse. But as a business owner, theft is a real crime.
