Genuine question: at this point, is there any publicly available evidence linking Alek Minassian to the Incel movement beyond his Facebook post?
-
-
Right. But in that case, the evidence is little more than an assumption
-
Hence, "apparently". I felt The National ran with the Facebook note too soon, but after Facebook said it was real and the numbers in it pointed to his military service, it no longer seems like an "assumption" that it is.
-
That's a pretty weak "apparently" though.
-
I don't understand the concern. Everyone's reporting on the apparent incel link - and the articles I've read have described it as a primarily misogynist but also racist cult/group/ideology.
-
Right. But the evidence of his racist ideology is not there, from what I understand. We should report and analyze the evidence that is there, not inferred
-
If there's any suspicion that the Facebook account was hacked or a spoof, Facebook should certainly come out and say something.
-
Yes I agree
