Did you see a pattern in these responses? I saw it too! Lots of tweets around:
being given new opportunities
getting autonomy to do a good job
and given credit and promotions to reward the work they already did!
It's not a coincidence, it's Sponsorship!

Sponsorship is something you can do as a manager, mentor, or as a peer. It's about using the power you have to use it to make a difference in someone else's career -- resulting in promotions, pay raises, and opportunities they were always meant to have.

Connected me with mentors
Looked for certifications/courses to help me develop new skills
Trusted me with stretch assignments and new responsibilities
(Shoutout to @ErinBlaskie and@aydin for doing all this - and more - to skyrocket my growth!) -
Yes! I also had a previous boss who did the same for me. Luckily, I already had access to a great mentorship program which he encouraged me to use.

Hard to pick one thing, but on my first day I was told: > We have a project for you, but we want you to work on something that you think is impactful and that you can be proud of. And they supported me when I picked something different.

Whaaaatttt? so tempting to ask which company, which team that was? Is the Manager still has a job at that company? Surely that person seemed to be a visionary and exemplify leadership that is so lacking, in my experience. That's empowerment!

I don't really think I have an example where a manager purposefully or explicitly helped me grow like this. Now I'm super curious to see how people respond! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
