It's always the difficulty. If you're voting on principle, you probably never vote for any main party candidate. But then the election is won based on the votes of more-compromised, less-principled voters. It's like the old question "what if war was declared and one guy showed?"

Right. It's like on one side you have people saying "This is so urgent you have to give up all your principles to join my side." And if you're like "Okay so are you willing to compromise on some stuff to get my support?" It's "Hell no!" Kinda undermines the urgency argument!

Like weirdly this urgency is only ever important enough to require concessions from one side and that kinda makes it seem not so urgent.
