PS: When did being a Jedi or a Sith revolve exclusively around how powerful they were with the Force? Darth Vader was an extremely formidable opponent but he never did anything bombastic with the Force. He was just a ruthless commander.

Darth Vader's biggest play in the trilogy was trapping them on Bespin, capturing Han Solo, and nearly killing Luke. The only part of that involving the Force was him blocking Han's blaster shots in the dining room. That's pretty much it.

The whole point of that Rogue One sequence was to show Vader doing cool things with the Force because WE HAD NEVER SEEN HIM DO THAT BEFORE. Seriously the most common use of the Force in the original trilogy was the ability to sense other Jedi nearby.
