If you're an atheist who rejects expressions of sympathy because they use the word "prayers," then you're just an asshole.

Prepare yourself for the hordes of people who buy into the false dichotomy of "prayers vs tangible resources" in your mentions. I imagine these people were the kids who got a birthday card and threw it at the person they got it from, screaming, "THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PRESENT!"

Thoughts and prayers is a response that got echoed by many lawmakers when mass shootings happened, and they followed that with no actions or solutions. I think ignoring that is pretty disingenuous.

I'm an atheist. I still say "Merry Christmas" during the holidays, "God Bless You" after people sneeze, "One Nation Under God" when I recite the Pledge, and "Jesus Christ" after I hit my finger with a hammer. Militant atheists who avoid all things religious are insufferable.
