It’s always been a hard g, and Die Hard is definitely not a Christmas movie.

I’m a hard G man myself. Otherwise I think you’re talking about peanut butter.

Do you pronounce “George” with hard Gs?
-
Do you pronounce “gift” with a soft g? Or “graphics”?
-
No, but I also don’t care how people pronounce things.
-
That must be why you commented
-
Precisely. I’m not really a fan of the whole gif argument when they go against the person who coined the word and say basically “I’m right and the creator is wrong” As a side note I pronounce it with a hard G, but I don’t tell people to pronounce it that way.

It's pronounced with a soft G because everyone with a clue who was engaged at the format's inception understood that to be the case

Two perfect examples of “creators” not understanding their “creation”.

Bruce didn't write the movie, he only stared in it. I know, I'm clutching at straws. But this is no way to start a Monday.

It is pronounced "jiff" and Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie. It's just set at that time period. That'd be like saying The Shining was a Christmas/New Years movie.
