The Met holds priceless antiquities from so many countries, and let us remember that countries like Egypt often saw their cultural heritage looted in ugly ways under the guise of archaeology.

But now an Egyptian visitor must pay the Met for the privilege of seeing their own cultural heritage, so that NYC residents who are overwhelmingly Americans can continue to see it for free.

This is one part of the equation that I get people were missing. That’s why it was hard for me and still is really to accept that because I kept thinking is it theirs to do as they wish? Yeah. It was really absurd to me.
