Neil, in the US, the period goes inside the quote marks. Same with the comma.

I've never like that rule. So I rarely follow it.
-
So, when it comes to syntax, you're fine with breaking rules?
-
I’m with Neil on this one. That punctuation isn’t part of the quotation in my mind.
-
Sorry, but that's the rule in the US.
-
I know I read you saying that already. My point is that it doesn’t make sense to me, so I’m in Neil’s camp.
-
Do you approach every rule in that manner?
-
Nope!
but it doesn’t mean I can’t question why the rule is that way. - 6 more replies

It's Andre, Neil. Don't you shop at Walgreens?
-
In Neil's defense, I believe he lives in NYS. No wine or liquor in Walgreens in NYS.
-
What fresh hell is this?
-
Damn. My apologies, Dr. Tyson. Perhaps when you are on travel you will step into a Walgreens and purchase this mythical "Andre".
-
Or he can go to the wine and liquor store. NY is not a dry state, just one with a very powerful liquor lobby that has kept wine and liquor out of grocery stores and pharmacies/convenience stores.
-
Yeah but Walgreens Andre is best Andre. If you go to the liquor store you have other choices.
-
Well, there is that.
