I love tossing this out on people that try to push me to their church service. It's evidence that their holy day was derived from pagans.
-
It was actually due to the Passover. Which is a Jewish holiday. The eggs and bunnies were pagan symbols, actually.
-
The eggs and bunnies come from the Celtic holiday celebrating spring and fertility.
-
Yes, Constantine tipped everything off from others in order to save the Empire. He still practiced paganism after converting.

Also people dying and coming back to life 3 days later is highly questionable
-
Unless a drug of some kind was ingested to give the appearance of death and it took 3 days to wear off.
-
Because medical science was pretty advanced in 33AD
-
Drugs existed back then in the form of "medicinal" herbs and elixers.
-
And 'shrooms.

That explains the book of Revelations

Correction: Easter is defined as the first Sunday AFTER THE FIRST FRIDAY after the first full moon after the vernal equinox. (I can't believe I've got the balls to correct
@neiltyson !! Chutzpah?) -
No, cuz there was a blue full moon last night, so that would put Easter next week.
-
That's an interesting point. I'm using the Orthodox definition, I think. (It's so rarely a difference, I never noticed.) Back in the 70s, I wrote some systems software that addressed this and all related calendar issues dealing with legal holidays, leap years, moon phases, etc.
-
I hope it wasn't a bug. (Oops!)
