But by that time, humanity will have populated the galaxy so it won’t matter except to the sentimental. Alternatively, we could move the planet to another sun.
-
I vote we move the planet
-
I second that. Wait, will we have wifi?
-
We will have WiFi that spans intergalactic distances. WiFi so powerful that the servers and space needed and required power will transform thousands of uninhabited galaxies into IT hubs linked with stable wormholes. A lot can be done in 5 billion years.
-
Not in my experience of IT departments it can’t

Why is the “w” in your question not capitalized, and the question mark absent from your question?

There's a real narcissism and depravity to stating this where I think that it has a lot to do with bringing people down to your anxiety and fears. Basically, Dr. Tyson, I worry you feel lonely in life and this tweet is your coping mechanism to develop some toxic camaraderie.
-
Idk man, I find it terribly comforting.
-
Thats great. Not everyone feels that way. And seeing that Dr. Tysonsigned the tweet with sarcasm, a coping mechanism, he probably is anxious at the concept.
-
Or maybe just cognizant of the anxiety that this fact might induce in others; didn't necessarily mean that he shares it.
-
That would be pretty depraved and narcissistic if he just wanted to make people feel uneasy for no reason.
-
Not necessarily for no reason, either: knowledge that makes you uneasy is still knowledge. Looking at the other comments, some find it inspiring to care more about research into interstellar travel. There's value in knowing about time limits.
-
(But between us, he kind of is a dick.)
