If the #Olympics were a bit geekier, they would measure aerial acrobatics in Radians. Every half-rotation is Pi Radians, making it easier to track and say how many rotations were executed. You're just counting Pi’s.
-
-
In engineering, Pi is now practical. Is it worth having both? Or will that just be confusing?
-
On further reflection, gotta stick with Pi on this one, making all rotations whole number Pi’s. With Tau, you’ll get needless fractions.
-
To be fair, you'll still get fractions with Pi on slopestyle events where they do 3/2s and 5/2s to get on and off rails sideways. Guess that just goes to show that no irrational number is perfect.
-
Wouldn't 3/2s just be 6 pis?
-
I meant 3/2 Pis :p but 3/2 rotations would be 3 Pis
-
Well colour me embarrassed!

Tau, Pi, it’s all Greek to me...

There's *always* a Tau evangelist!

Sure! It'll be easier getting people to use a unit that covers the thing people are really trying to count. In figure skating I guess Pi works for axel jumps (triple being 7 Pi) but the rest would be totally easier for people to digest in Tau.

I think Tau makes it easier to learn basic trigonometry, in the first place. I also think Pi gets memorized and worshipped as if it's the only irrational number in existence.

@jessicalexis_ this reminds me of your obsession with Tau in form 6

Tau is much more intuitive. And it seems like you subconsciously agree, if we listen closely to this interview you had with Stephen Colberthttps://youtu.be/aYGGQEHaRe0?t=17m19s …
