Isn't it possible that the practice of prayer makes people better people? Helps them to manage horrors in a productive and loving way? Connects them emotionally to people who experienced trauma?

No one says that, though. That's a straw man.
-
That isn't at all what you said, eitherhttps://twitter.com/neiltyson/status/964606017513410560 …
-
Ummm... That’s exactly what he said..
-
Then it's an utterly stupid point. No one argues that.

You can’t comprehend his tweet and he’s the one that’s dense? Ooook.
-
We comprehend it perfectly, which is why you people are getting all defensive about it.
-
I’m not being defensive at all, just merely pointing out the obvious.

So...the answer is not religion, but magic walls that can detect and attract bullets, but not other metal objects? I thought you were supposed to be a scientist.
-
He definitely said "magnetic" walls. SMH.
-
Yes, but magnets that can sense gunfire and attract firearms (and only firearms) are pretty magical.
-
Umm that's not actually Neil deGrasse Tyson.. lol

I’m a Christian and a true believer in the power of prayer. But, in this case, I totally agree with Dr Tyson. It’s not time to pray. It is time to take action
-
What action, SPECIFICALLY, and explain how it would have stopped this incident.
-
Nothing that you can do now will change the past. The things that you can do now to prevent this happen in the future is: 1. Grab your phone, open your email and call or write to your congressman or senator. Demand a law that forbids the selling of military weapons.
-
2. Gather your neighbors, your friends, the parents of the kids of your local schools and organize protests. Pressure your authorities. Don’t let that this happen again. Paralyze the educational systems of your county or state until you get protection for everyone
-
This is only a problem in this country where we think more guns make us safer, and health care is a privilege.
-
Totally agree
