You’ve clearly never had a conversation with a black hole. They only talk about themselves and they generally speak English with a southern drawl.

Disagree, math is the language we created to understand it, but it is far from being "the language it speaks" specially since we havent been able to explain it entirelly on math. It is just a good human try, but not "the language of the universe"
-
I disagree. The cosmos can be all math and probabilities. Just imagine the movie, "The Matrix". So far, math applies in all corners of the universe. Humanity's understanding of math is still young.
-
Nope, theres lots of human, physics, consciousness etc, phenomenae that cant be well explained by math, it is a good language, but not "the language the universe speaks"
-
Is language not human interpretation, though? The English language is famously inadequate. Mathematics is not the universe itself, but a description of the universe. It's as accurate as any language can be- which is to say it is sometimes inadequate.
-
Agree to that, it is our best try, but to say "it is the language the universe speaks" goes waaaay to far. :)
-
Yes, well Neil Tyson is a physicist, not a philosopher.
-
At the fringes of math, it IS Philosophy. When the "basic" math runs out, grad students, PhD's, & PostDocs are using Philosophy to prove their equations.
-
Yes, of course. But that mostly involves analyzing which method is the most valid given the problem- I would argue that kind of thinking is more analytical than philosophical. Regardless, Tyson is a physicist, not a mathematician.
