I’m just here to read the responses of those who will misinterpret your tweet!

: - ) Yup. It comes with the territory.
-
Yeah, this reply totally doesn't make people think you're averse to correction or differing outlooks. Where would anyone get that idea?

-
People tweeting their differing opinions is only fruitful if they’re not misinterpreting the point of the subject. But, thanks for the unnecessary and snarky response.
-
I think he's gonna be okay. You can probably stop replying to every even semi opposing response to him. He has the full capability to do that himself.
-
I was responding to those who replied to me, but thanks anyways.

My naturalistic observation after 50 years of doing therapy is that those who succeed despite terrible childhoods have had a mentor along the way who was able to somehow reverse the deprivation and become either a role model and or an object of admiration.
-
Terrible childhood here. Zero mentors. Zero role models. More successful by the day. Graduated community college with high honors and two internships, biophysics and astrophysics. Authorship on Journal article before leaving undergrad. Still going.
-
Me too. Horrible childhood. No mentors. Successful. Was good at disassociation until I could deal with it.

One of the toughest obstacles, pulling back from dissociation and forming memories.

Only if you're studying success... As a family therapist I'm concerned any time someone says we should look less at kids from troubled environments. Odd tweet, sir.

-
Of course. But not at the exclusion of other circumstances.
-
Actually he suggested examining resiliency - kids from troubled circumstances who succeed. He appears to not know that this is so well studied already that it has a name.
-
I'm not opposed to studying resiliency, I just think he set up a false dichotomy that could be dangerous to people looking for funding or people in need of services later on. The original tweet should be followed up and clarified.
-
Yeah, I see what you’re saying now. I doubt it was meant that way but it’s important to be as clear as you can.
-
I thought your tweet was great actually, it expanded on mine in a way that would pique interest and educate

Aw
