Anyone who thinks programmers like agreeing with one another has never spent 15 minutes in a software development team room.

Nobody thinks programmers agree on anything, they see them re-invent everything ... all the time
-
all too unfortunately programmers are not "scientists"

Most people haven't attended scientific conferences and we don't exactly do a great job being transparent about what happens at them
-
We should invite people in, not make fun of them for not knowing about a detail of our work - tons of things we dont know about other jobs
-
Yes/No. Yes for being transparent and open. No for they are soooooo boring often and jargon heavy. We should change the way we conference

-
I'm beginning to think a lot of things are way to jargon heavy.
-
I mean some jargon is unavoidable yes. But the heavy academic maze that journal articles and conference presentations have become = not good
-
My thesis is around a current major jargon specific word. Sometimes I get lost sometimes in the journal articles.
-
I guess that is true for most researchers. Although the general consensus is that we do not like to admit it.

-
I will admit it! How are the non scientists supposed to take our work and create for example public policy if it makes no sense?

Creationist told me,"scientists don't question each other." I Laughed and replied,"science is a bigger pissing contest than sports."
-
Whereas creationists spend all of their time questioning their beliefs?

Thank you for being the voice of reason, we need more scientists, engineers and humanitarians running for office rather than lawyers.
-
Problem is the values that make for great scientists, search for truth, are in opposition to those that make for good politicians
-
Something is very wrong with this picture. Politicians were originally supposed to represent the people. Now they represent... money?
