There is a swarm of scientists that can communicate well, @neiltyson - we've been here all along!

It was based on both. Your quote says you long for others 'on your landscape' - I provided a list of ppl you could amplify to get them there
-
He does a ton for amplifying people in ways you don't consider, like supporting Black students behind the scenes
-
Is it that you take offense to him saying he has "singular role"? I'm all for modesty, but it's safe to say
@neiltyson has singular talent. -
He talks about lack of people "on his landscape"? I mean,
@neiltyson is insanely successful at what he does. Give him a break, no? -
How is tweeting introductions of scientists being mean or ragging on him? I'm not seeing why this is such an offense.
-
Presumption that the problem is "NDT doesn't know people" vs the more likely "societal devaluation of scientists = lack of opportunity"
-
It's a condescending presumption, imo, especially taken in cultural context
-
And particularly when he responded to our initial thread aimed at Bill. Plus the framing around the article. Just seems rude at this stage.

I apologize for any harm this thread has caused. The goal was to uplift & amplify great scicommers, not berate you or discount your efforts.
-
It clearly missed that mark, so I am sorry.

Can I just say that your idea of getting celebs on
@StarTalkRadio so their fans will hear science is genius? Never heard that idea b4 -
I love this about
@StarTalkRadio (esp. the comedians)...gets interesting convos going and engages a broad audience. -
And he brings on some scientists doing really neat work! This is one of my fav series to listen to in the lab.

Can I ask some obvious follow-ups reporter didn't? "Why do you think you get 200 requests per mo - there's no one else, or ppl don't search?
-
"Who do *you* think is communicating science innovative ways that people should know about?
-
And who do you see on the horizon as up-and-coming science communicators? What can be done to get them in front of a bigger audience?
-
Seems like ppl are upset about an inexistent answer to a question that wasn't asked...

He focus's mainly on sci-fi ideas in terms of their current potential or efficacy. He totally leaves ideology at the door.
