        @neiltyson is it possible that Van Gogh did not have astronomy training and may have placed the moon anywhere he liked, without accuracy?

        @peterknobloch @neiltyson nope. he was scrupulous and astronomers can tell exactly when he did his paintings by the position of the stars.
