        @neiltyson But by that logic,one could not say "Happy Friday." We shouldn't fear all the etymological skeletons in a given word's closet.

        @neiltyson I think most people say "Happy Holidays" to neutralize the *allegiance* of the phrases "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Hanukah," etc.
