Honestly as a scientist I find PNAS’ material to read more like an old boys’ club and less like an impartial arbiter of truth. Not to say most of it isn’t very good.

If that "academy" is funded by the government, it will be corrupt within months of it's inception. There are already government funded agencies that distort the truth depending upon who's paying for the "research". The truth is already out there; just have to know where to look.

So you want a government organization that determines truth? Whose interests do you think, seriously, it's going to serve?

Because no scientists have ever taken over a journal to be the gatekeepers of what they consider the truth, and keep ideas they politically disagree with out of the peer reviewed process?

The advice would only be impactful for those who take it ....we aren’t living in a moment where science-based objectives are respected or even understood . The only science people want is the science that “proves” their opinions and validates their idea of the world
