No @neiltyson this would become a propaganda ministry, no matter who is in the White House.https://twitter.com/neiltyson/status/1031556958153666561 …

Thank you for answering Neil, I am not discussing semantics, I'd like to point out that such a government institution would be easily corrupted and impossible to trust and it would defeat the point.
-
to everyone coming into my notifications box, the venezuelan regime has a "ministry of truth" for propaganda purposes, this is exactly why you don't want the same on USA :)
-
It should of course be independant from the government but I guess we already have that.
-
you are the only one so far to hit the nail on the head

Niel he knows that. It was the whole point of his tweet.

Sadly Neil looks to be an expert on pointing out the obvious in complicated words, some people say i got "rekt" and completely missed the point

You mean politicians. I really don't get how the most powerful part of our system is so poorly regulated. (Actually I do I am just been sarcastic, and want to cry)
-
I feel you, but who regulates the regulators? it's an endless loop
-
Well in this case they are the law makers which means that they will have to pass the laws to regulate themselves, so little chance of that. In a better system science would set the limits and any unsupported claim would need to be disclose as such with a probability error value.
-
Unfortunately even science isn't incorruptible. Sociology used to be a respectable science with reasonable enough standards. Now it's a smouldering neo-Marxist dumpster fire. Bad power-seeking actors will always try to hijack powerful institutions to impose their will.
-
I agree power corrupts and transparency been the only solution to that. However science when done right has built in mechanisms to deal with corruption. Such peer review, and recreation of experiment/claims by others.
-
That's the key though, when done right. Decades of corruption can eat away at scientific integrity.
-
Then it becomes "science like" not "like science" settle wording difference that changes everything.
-
Word play isn't going to fix the corruption of a branch of science, though.

The administrators of the “accurate information”, assuming they’re human, are prone to error and corruption. It would inevitably deteriorate into propaganda as new accurate information that doesn’t line up with the current narrative arise.

That's true. Which is why propagandists would devote all their energy to getting themselves appointed to leadership in the Truth Force.

nevertheless it is almost impossible to hold the increase in the entropy of false information, which has a higher rate then the truth itself. might be a good case for a supreme AI to take charge in the future...
