How could we slowly introduce the metric system and Celcius? I moved to the US from France and while I'm trying hard to adapt, it's tough to make sense of it at times…

Why slowly, though? Just change it. We did it in Canada, and as far as I know we survived.

My 2018 car has a setting to switch between KM and Mi. Of course, the speed limit road signs are all in MPH. The distance to places signs are all in Mi. There is infrastructure change required.
-
There is infrastructure spending required, but again, we did this in Canada. All of our signage was in miles before we went metric in '71. If the US had adopted metric when the rest of the world did, road signs (and everything else) would've been changed long ago.
-
Yes, things like road signs have a schedule for replacement, so phase in based on that schedule. In Canada, it happened in 2 phases. The first set of road signs had both mph and kph, which were up for a few years, then the second set were metric only.

We did the same thing in Australia in '71 ... it was relatively painless. We are completely metric now ... no one has died from it .... I think

USA did try it ... I remember the outrage ... lasted about 2 years ...then the govt caved in and reverted ... wimps -
You’re correct. I was one of the kids being taught the metric system in elementary in the 70s. Then, poof. Nothing. It just disappeared from the curriculum without explanation.

On September 3rd, 1967, Sweden managed to convert from left-side driving to right-side driving. Now that's a significant infrastructure change! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagen_H

Instead of smart, can we just make ourselves logical again? Fact based? Stop emotional arguments and legitimately discuss reality? Make policy decisions based on actionable information?
-
In a world where everyone followed that agenda we wouldn't need a government or individualism. We'd just have a strange hivemind of a regime where people played their part accordingly for the logical good of humanity.
-
Sigh. Wrong. You have logic confused with philosophical Utilitarianism. They aren't equivalent.
