      Unless you possess secret knowledge, I think you mean 49 years ago, this July. Moon landing July 20, 1969. (2018 - 1969 = 49)

          Ack! You are correct @NeilDegrass! The moon landing was in July 1969, or 49 years ago today. We accidentally cited information from when the archival article was published in 2009. We greatly regret the error. Thanks for catching!

          "Alan Bean passed away on May 26, 2018. He appeared on Science Friday on July 17, 2009, to mark the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the moon. We’ve pulled this interview from the SciFri Archive in his memory." He said "40 years ago" in 2009.
